STEVE TURNOCK

On the back of 23 years commissioned service within the British Armed Forces as an Engineering Officer within the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), Steve has proven himself as an engineering leader and has successfully delivered change in not only the Equipment Programme, but has equally supported major organisational change initiatives and defence infrastructure projects

Change initiative projects include:

  • Equipment Support Lead to Heavy Armoured and Protected Mobility Platforms, including Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme, Challenger 2 Life Extension Project and the AJAX Armoured Vehicle Project.

  • Capability Manager for the delivery of REME’s sole Urgent Operational Requirement to deliver a lightweight front line recovery asset; delivering HUSKY Recovery Variant with the time, cost and performance envelope agreed by all stakeholders.

  • Lead Integrated Logistic Support Manager in support of two delivery teams; Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Detection Delivery Team and the Tactical Systems Service Executive.  Specific projects supported are FUCHS SUSTAIN and BOWMAN SUSTAIN projects.

  • Brigade Liaison Officer for the restructuring and re-generation of Aldershot Garrison under Project Allenby Connaught, coordinating early requirement setting to high level designs for individual headquarters and accommodation blocks for multiple units within the Logistic Brigade.

  • Key change stakeholder in the organisational work of Army 2020 and the impact on REME units both regular and reserve.  Ranging from, detailed analysis and equipment holdings for Regular REME Battalions, to implementing the formation of a new Reserve Battalion and its integration with disbanded Reserve detachments; coordinating and training a centralised capability delivering greater effect.

This collective experience, coupled with his NSV Security Clearance, enables the delivery of a wide-ranging capability to support both industry and MoD decision-making in the procurement and support of defence capabilities.  Utilising this capability to focus on the impact and effectiveness of your product, thus improving your opportunities to achieve your strategic goals, faster and with more certainty.  Using this experience, Steve qualified as a Chartered Engineer and has been appointed a Fellow in the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
